Het PatelBusiness & Data Analyst

About

Het Ashishkumar Patel is a business & data analyst in Mehsana, Gujarat, India, working as Jr. Data Analyst Technical Expert — Operations & Analytics at Recruit Riders Technologies.

Most of the work is unglamorous and useful: finding out what three different teams actually need, agreeing what a measure means before building it, and making sure the number in the report can be defended when someone asks where it came from.

How I work

  1. 1Discover

Talk to the people who will use the output. Find the decision behind the request before agreeing to build anything.

  2. 2Structure

Write the requirement down. Agree what each measure means, so the same word means the same thing in every team.

  3. 3Analyse

Prepare the data, check what it can and cannot support, then look for the pattern that answers the question actually asked.

  4. 4Validate

Check the numbers against a second source or a known figure. Say plainly where the data is thin rather than smoothing over it.

  5. 5Communicate

Lead with the finding, not the method. Give the audience the one thing they need in order to decide.

  6. 6Improve

Automate whatever recurs. Revisit definitions when the business changes what it means by them.
